We bill by the arrival.

We're not here to abduct your budget. If an event never reaches us, you don't pay for it. If we drop it at the gate, you don't pay for it. The meter ticks once per event. Not once per destination, not once per pipeline, not once per step.

any volume

For volumes beyond scale, dedicated servers, or contracts your procurement team needs to see. Email ben@ingestlayer.com and we'll get back to you by the end of the day.

Overage

What happens above the cap.

$0.0002 per event over your monthly allowance. Billed once, at the end of the month, on the same invoice. No auto-upgrades, no surprise tier bumps. If you cross your cap by accident, you'll hear from a person first.

Counting

What is, and isn't, an event.

One payload arriving at one of our intake nodes is one event. A 200-byte page view costs the same as a 12KB invoice payload. Routing to four destinations from one event is still one event. The work multiplies; the meter does not.

counts

  • +Events accepted at the typed gate.
  • +Events that fail later (we already did the work).
  • +Replays you trigger from your dead-letter queue.

doesn't

  • Schema mismatches dropped at the door.
  • Rate-limited bursts beyond your cap (you get a 429).
  • Internal retries on our side.
  • Health checks and ping endpoints.

Reference

So you can guess your tier.

Rough order of magnitude. Real numbers depend on which event families you ingest and how much classify/enrich you opt into per family. If you're between two tiers, start lower and let overage decide.

Annual

Annual is twelve percent off.

The toggle is on the dashboard. There is no annual-only call. There is no annual-only feature. The discount is the discount.

Q&A

Questions we get, answered.

Q.What exactly is an event?
A.One payload reaching the pipeline. A user.signup, a webhook fire, an inbound email. We meter intake, not outputs. One event can fan out to four destinations and still costs one event.
Q.What doesn't count?
A.Anything dropped before the typed contract is met: schema mismatches, rate-limited bursts, internal retries on our side, health checks. Free.
Q.Is there a free trial?
A.Starter is free, indefinitely, up to 1,000 events a month. That is the trial. Run it for as long as you need; upgrade the month you need more.
Q.Annual pricing?
A.Twelve percent off across the board. The toggle is on the dashboard. There is no annual-only call, and no annual-only feature. The discount is the discount.
Q.Is any of it open source?
A.The SDK is — it runs in your code, so every line is on npm and GitHub. The pipeline engine and the dashboard are ours, run for you in the EU. You point the SDK at us; we run the rest.
Q.Volumes above 1M / mo?
A.Email us. We won't put you in a sequence. We'll draft a contract by the end of the day.
Q.How EU-hosted is EU-hosted?
A.Frankfurt (Hetzner) and Dublin (AWS eu-west-1). All processing, all storage, all backups, all logs. No vendor in the loop with US-side incident response.
Q.Refunds?
A.We refund unused event allowance, prorated to the day. No questions. Cancel from the dashboard.
